Best Renters Insurance in Dallas

The best renters insurance company is the one that gets you the most value. Below we discuss at length a couple companies we feel give you the best value.

The Hartford

Rarely are price and service both stellar from the same company, but in Texas and Dallas, The Hartford is both the cheapest option and highest quality one as well. According to J.D. Power, The Hartford had the highest score and placed as the best renters insurance company in Texas. Based on existing customers' ratings in the survey, most policyholders will most likely receive stellar claims handling and service.

USAA

USAA is another great option in Texas and in Dallas. USAA renters insurance comes with comprehensive coverage, and very affordable pricing. It is a bit more expensive than The Hartford, $63 on average per year, but USAA is a better option to bundle other insurance products with, and thus earning you a discount. USAA auto insurance is generally affordable, so by bundling with your USAA renters policy you can save even more money. You must qualify for USAA however by being a military member or being related to a military member. This can be great for the numerous veterans located in Dallas who may frequent Grand Prairie Armed Forces Reserve Complex or other reserve bases around the city.

Why Dallasites Need Renters Insurance

There are several costly and common calamities that can happen to a renter. If you are unprepared, and don't have a renters insurance policy, you can find yourself footing a bill worth several thousands of dollars.

Fire

Major cities like Dallas experience thousands of fires every year. One cooking fire can destroy all of your appliances, electronics, bed and wardrobe leaving you out thousands of dollars to replace it all. According to Allstate, in the Dallas neighborhood of Lakewood, fires were the fifth most common claim, and they cost an average of $38,000 per claim for both homeowners and renters.

Theft

In North Dallas theft is the most common claim, with each being worth about $2,600. Remember when it comes to renters insurance, you can file a claim whether your stuff is stolen in your home and outside your home. So the next time you have people over to watch the Cowboys, you won't have to worry about anyone stealing your stuff because you have that extra protection.

Dog Bites

Dog bites are another costly claim that is covered by the liability portion of your renters insurance policy. If your dog bites a stranger on the street, the ensuing medical costs can easily cost $20,000. Even if you think your dog is the best behaved one in the world, it is still advisable to have that liability protection just because of the extensive financial damage it can do to you.
